When it comes to picking a treatment for your next upholstery project it can sometimes become a bit overwhelming. Whether you're a fashion enthusiast, a textile entrepreneur, or simply someone looking to protect your precious textiles, discovering the wonders of fabric treatments is a game-changer. With advancements in technology and a growing awareness of safety, it's crucial to stay ahead of the game by understanding how fabric treatments can safeguard not just fabrics, but also lives.
In this guide, we will delve deeper into the world of fabric treatments for fabric, exploring its benefits, applications, and when each of our treatments may be used.
Fire Retardant
Are you tired of worrying about the safety of your fabrics? Fire retardant treatment for upholstery fabrics is designed to provide unparalleled protection and peace of mind for all domestic upholstery projects.
Fire Retardant treatment, also sometimes known as FR treatment, is one of the most popular fabric treatments and probably the most well-known. This treatment is applied to the fabric through a chemical spray and heated at a very high temperature to bond the treatment to the fabric making it more resistant should it come into contact with high temperatures and open flames.
Using a FR treatment provides an extra layer of safety for you and your family by decreasing the risk of fire spread and injury. Although we would recommend getting all of your fabrics FR treated, we would especially recommend it when creating a larger piece of furnishing such as curtains, blinds or a sofa for example. Larger pieces of upholstery can cause a bigger threat should there be an open flame or high temperatures and therefore using an Fire Retardant treatment helps to reduce that risk of fast fire spread.
Crib 5
Crib 5 treatment offers a level of protection that goes above and beyond standard fabric treatments, making it a must-have for anyone seeking to create fire-resistant furnishings for commercial spaces. In hospitality venues, and all public spaces, all furniture and materials must meet UK fire prevention regulations. Upholstery fabrics therefore need to be treated to Crib 5 level to make sure all public spaces abide with UK law. Crib 5 is the highest level of FR treatment available for upholstery fabrics and with its ability to withstand rigorous testing and meet strict fire safety regulations, Crib 5 treatment ensures that your fabrics not only look good but also provide the ultimate protection for you and your customers.
Crib 5 treatment is often not needed for materials that will be used in your home, where regular FR treatment will suffice.
Soil & Stain
Are you tired of dealing with stubborn stains and unsightly marks on your upholstery fabrics?
Our Soil & Stain treatment is used to repel oil and water based products to help prevent them from staining your soft furnishings and is the perfect option for busy homes that are prone to spillages.
We would recommend using this treatment in areas of your home that are heavily used and prone to spillages such as in the living room or on dining room chairs. This treatment is also very popular with households with children or pets to help give your soft furnishings that extra layer of protection.
Water Repellent
Imagine a world where accidental spills simply bead up on the surface, ready to be wiped away without leaving a trace. With our reliable water repellent treatment you can finally relax and enjoy your furniture without the fear of stains setting in.
This treatment is perfect for your indoor furnishings that may get the odd spill and splash of water such as soft furnishings in the kitchen or spaces where drinks are allowed. Say goodbye to the stress of spills and hello to worry-free living with our water repellent treatment.
It’s also worth noting that a common misconception with water repellent treatments is that once the fabric has been treated the fabric will then be suitable for outdoor use. Unfortunately this is not the case. Our water repellent treatment provides an initial barrier to liquid, giving you the chance to wipe the fabric clean should the fabric get wet. However this treatment does not prevent mould and damp from occurring from constant exposure to harsh, outdoor conditions. For this use, we would advise using an outdoor fabric instead.
