Which fabric should I choose?
Is your space a traditionally themed room or just for occasional use? Selecting the style of your room is an important first step. If used daily by the family, then silks probably are not the best choice, we would recommend a cotton blend or microfibre which are sturdy fabrics and resilient for every day use. Always use the thread count as a guide, the higher the thread count the longer it will last.
What fabric pattern and colour would work for my furniture?
In more traditional spaces, natural and floral fabrics work well and complement your look. For more contemporary spaces, bold patterns and colours would be the way to go.
If you are planing on re covering furniture think about the overall look of the furniture, too many bold patterns could make your furniture take over your space and consume it. Consider accenting your furniture with brightly patterned accessories like cushions to provide an injection of colour into your room.
If you have young children or pets, natural colours and whites are probably best avoided!
Another tip to consider when choosing fabric is does the room have a lot of sun during the day? If so, you will need to consider a fade resistant fabric, linen or cotton for example, anything with a strong colour will fade in time if not protected from the sun.
