How To Get Your Home Ready For Autumn

How To Get Your Home Ready For Autumn

As usual, Summer seems to have only lasted for two weeks this year. Many people will be preparing their Autumn wardrobe but we’re more interested in the Autumn interior trends. From gorgeous reds and oranges, to luxurious velvets and geometric prints, we take a look at the trends that will be transforming our homes this season.

Colour Blocking

We know more than anybody how difficult it can be to choose just one colour, why not choose a selection instead? Colour blocking lets your use a couple of contrasting colours to make an impact. Opt for a natural colour like grey or taupe to prevent the colours overpowering your room. Oranges and blues are always a popular choice in Autumn, and gold is a great accent colour for an Autumnal style.

Teal

Teal is a great colour, not only does it add warmth and cosiness to a room but it is an uplifting tone too. Keep the look simple and combine it with white or grey. A deep teal colour brings elegance and luxury while a lighter pastel teal is more calming. Whichever tone you choose, you’ll be right on-trend.

Celebrate Natural

We spoke last week about the benefits of natural fabrics and they are set to take centre stage this Autumn too. Think woven lampshades, thick cosy throws and cotton tablecloths. Off whites, creams and greys are the major colours featured with this trend. Bring in some luscious plant life to add a hint of colour while keeping things natural. If you’re not naturally green-fingered then succulents are a low maintenance option.

Geometrics

One of our personal favourites, geometric patterns add an element of fun to your design. Use geometrics for handmade cushions and accessories. If you’re feeling brave then upholster your furniture or add some structure to your curtains. While geometric patterns are on-trend this Autumn, styles like this will never be out of style.

Emerald Green

Taking more inspiration from nature, emerald green adds a touch of elegance and regality to a room. Combined with copper accessories and blush pinks, you can have a cosy space to escape the Autumn weather. Don’t let the colour overwhelm you though, break it up with prints and patterns in contrasting shades.

Velvet

The epitome of luxury, velvet is an opulent fabric that brings a touch of elegance to your design. An upholstered piece of furniture adds texture and makes a statement but if you think velvet furniture is too much in your home, velvet cushions are a great option for embracing the trend. Velvet looks great in the traditional Autumnal colours like deep reds, dark oranges and nutty browns.

Pink

One of the more surprising colours for Autumn, pink have been popular throughout 2017 and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Peachy-Salmon pink goes with anything, making it suitable for any room in your home. Keep it grown-up and team it with pastel blues and smoky greys. The uplifting effect of pink will combat any Autumn sadness!
